What Is a Curriculum-Based Daycare?

A curriculum-based daycare structures each day around specific developmental goals — fine motor skills, language, social-emotional growth — rather than simply supervising children until parents return. At Cocoon, this means every activity, meal, and play session is intentionally designed around one of six skill areas, delivered consistently at both our Besa and Somalwada centres.

Through activities like threading beads, clay modelling, tearing and pasting, drawing, and using child-safe tools, we develop the small muscles of the hands and fingers — skills that directly support writing readiness and creative expression.

Gross Motor Skills

Strong bodies, confident movers
Outdoor play, obstacle courses, dance, yoga, and movement games build core strength, balance, and body awareness. Children who move well, learn well.

Sensory Play

Learning through all five senses
Sand, water, textures, sounds, and smells — sensory play is not "just play." It is one of the most powerful ways toddlers process the world, regulate their emotions, and build cognitive connections.

Social & Emotional Skills
